Due to the reported cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in South Dakota, some of which were reported in a couple of the surrounding counties, the Department of Health has provided the school districts with the following information. As more information becomes available, our school district will be in close contact with the DOH and the DOE departments and provide that information to our community.

Grades will be due today for report cards to go out on Thursday, March 12th.  MS Updates will be due today, and a missing assignment report will go out.  No eligibility this week.

There will be a grades 8-11 football meeting in Woonsocket after school today.  All players are expected to attend.  If you cannot attend, speak to Coach Flatten or Coach Rodriguez prior to Wednesday.

SC track meeting will be held Thursday March 12th  at 3:00 in Mr. Flatten's room for all 7-12 students interested in participating.

All practices will be in Woonsocket due to the volunteer coaching situation.


The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Powerlifting Team will be participating at State.  The meet will take place at SF Washington on Saturday with lifts beginning at 8:00 AM.  Athletes will need to be at the meet by 6:45.  Athletes need to be at Sanborn Central by 5:00 AM to get a ride with Coach Flatten.  The bus will not return until late evening (7-8 PM).  Athletes participating are Aiden Wormstadt, Devyn Senska-Thompson, Lily Overson, Harley Kneen, Brighten Hitchcock, and Michael Schmiedt.

Join in on the fun with the Alexandria 3 on 3 tournament.  Grades 3-8 are welcome and no entries can be taken after March 30th.  The tournament date is Saturday, April 4th.

Music
A local music contest will be help March 12th at the SC school.  Miss. West and  Mrs. Easton have been collaborating and a music contest will take place at Sanborn Central from about 8:30-11:30 and Woonsocket from about 12:30-3:30. Please view the following link and see what time your student is scheduled to perform.

On March 18th 9-12 band students are performing at Region Large Group contest. They will leave in the morning and return around 1:30pm. In preparation for the contest, they will be rehearsing with Woonsocket during Block 2 on March 11th and March 17th.   Students involved include the following:Katie Schmit, Dayton Easton, Dana Schelske, Sidney Salas, Brighten Hitchcock, Alexis Kelly, Samantha Dean, Michael Hoffman, Toby Kneen, Brady Larson, and Casady Dean

DWU is hosting a concert by the Central College Steel Drum Band. It is a great opportunity to hear some fun music and a wonderful way to support the touring efforts of college musicians. The Steel Drum Band Concert is on Monday, March 16 at 7pm in the Sherman Center on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University. If you have any questions, please contact Miss. COUNSELOR’S CORNER
Attn. HS students an ACT prep class will be held at DSU (Tunheim Classroom Building)  March 16th, March 23rd and March 30th.  apply online at dsu.edu/actprep

Plains Commerce Bank is also offering a scholarship to HS Seniors.  This application must be submitted by April 1st.  The student, or a parent must be a customer of Plains Commerce Bank.

Community
Please help support Chloe Ruml’s senior project by attending a FREE Family Fun BINGO event from 1-3 at the Letcher Community center Sunday, March 15th. This event is geared towards activities for children in a rural area. The event will kick off with a free will offering of soup and sandwich from 11AM- 1PM Proceeds going to Sanborn Central youth attending Washington DC trip. A silent auction from 11AM-1PM followed by bingo at 1PM.
