Good Luck to the Lady Blackhawks as they host Iroquois tonight in Woonsocket.  4:00 is the first serve for the 7th grade.  8th-C-JV-V will follow.
Pep Band plays tonight – meet in the Woony Band Room at 6:45.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!  NO Youth Blackhawk Football (Springs) tonight due to the field being underwater!!!!!

Dave Williams from William's Musical and Office Equipment Repair out of Mitchell, SD will be in the Woonsocket music room from 6:30-7:30pm tonight during the volleyball game. He will be available to help you sign-up for his instrument rental plan and answer any other questions you may have.

5/6th Basketball Players – sign up forms are due Friday!!!!!

The following FFA members have NOT turned in either their signature pages and/or dues for FFA. Please get these to Miss. Ronning ASAP!  Hannah Dickson, Royce Hunter, Cayden Slykhuis, and Leighton Tarbox.

Don’t forget picture retakes September 27th!!!!!   Make sure that we have your original set of pictures.

FRIDAY
Tomorrow the Spirit Club will be hosting a Pep Rally at 8:15. Everyone is invited so come one come all!!!!!!   We understand that it’s going to be a BLAST!!!!!!!  From the advisor:   SCW IDOL lip class lip sync contest/ pep rally! Community is invited to come watch or sign up to compete if you wish!!

Lunch will begin at 10:30 for the Pre-K students.  All other classes will be called to the lunch room when they are ready to be served.  Rough time frame is HS/MS Band (Including Alex S & Evan E) at 11:00, HS/MS students at 11:15.

Approximate bus departure times are 11:30 Marching Band, 11:20 PreK-5, 6-8th at 11:40.

Just a reminder – Marching Band students must ride the bus to the parade!!!!

The Booster Club will be providing lunch for SC Staff and Students tomorrow - Thank you!

FFA will be hosting a tailgate supper prior to the football game with Chamberlain on Friday, September 21st:

Have you purchased your yard line for Friday night’s homecoming game?   Choices are dwindling!!!!!  This is a great way to put some money in your pocket as well as helping the Juniors raise $$$$$$ for prom!!!!!   For $5, you get to choose a yard line and if the last play of the homecoming football game ends on YOUR yard line, you win half of the money. Contact your favorite junior or email susan.farrell-poncelet@k12.sd.us to purchase your yard line. 

The Junior class has teamed up with Mother Nature and cancelled the root beer floats for tomorrow evening!!!!

The SC Boosters are gearing up to make our homecoming week the best yet - A boy and girl from the elementary, middle school, and high school as well as a staff member will be chosen as the most spirited Blackhawk of the day!!!!  Monday-Thursday at 3:00 the winners will be announced and invited to the concession stand for a treat.  Mr. Siemsen is getting on board by donating a “Blackhawk” yard sign to the “Most Spirited Student” and a community member. 

The Town N Kountry Kids Red Group 4-H Club will be sponsoring a “Chicken Drop” fundraiser during the homecoming football game on Friday night.  Squares on a numbered board will be sold until full or through halftime, whichever comes first.  Then the board will be placed on the ground inside of a chicken pen and “Oprah the Chicken” will be placed inside the pen.  The first square/number that “Oprah” poops or “drops” on is the winner.  Payout will be 50% of the take.

ACADEMICS
The freshman class will be attending Freshman Impact on Monday, September 24th.

There will be no counseling Monday, September 24th.

Wednesday, September 26th a rep from Augie will be here at 11:45.

Friday, September 28th is extra help day.  As usual, we ask that teachers have everything posted by noon on Wednesday, September 26th.  Students will be provided a list of all missing assignments Wednesday afternoon.  Thursday, September 27th at noon lists will be updated at 1:00 the process of notifying parents that their student will need to be at school from 8:00-11:00 on Friday the 28th due to missing assignment and/or failing grades will begin.  STUDENTS – GET YOUR WORK IN TO AVOIND COMING THE 28TH!!!!

Band Students – you will need to have everything turned in prior to leaving Thursday morning to avoid the EXTRA HELP DAY LIST!!!!

ATHLETICS
We have made an addition to the JV schedule.   Our Blackhawk JV team will play Redfield/Doland JV on Thursday, October 4 in Wessington Springs at 5:30 pm.  The updated schedule can be found at

FFA parents - we are in need of volunteers to work the homecoming tailgate and to bake cookies and/or bars for the tailgate on September 21st. If you are able to help with either, please e-mail Miss. Ronning, jessica.ronning@k12.sd.us for more information.
