COMMUNITY
Middle and high school students and their families are encouraged to attend a public showing of Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic on Monday, September 24, from 5:45-8:00 p.m. in the HRMC Legacy Plaza Auditorium. This compelling documentary, narrated by Vanessa Williams and produced by Lumiere Media, reveals just how dangerous Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) can be, causing six different types of cancers in both men and women. In addition to five brave women’s stories who are afflicted by HPV and cervical cancer, the film also interviews some of the world’s top experts on the subject.
Huron Regional Medical Center in partnership with Beadle County Health staff and other medical providers are hosting the special showing and Dr. Elyse Brock, board-certified OB/Gyn at the Women's Wellness Center, and Dr. Jesse Van Heukelom, board-certified pediatrician at the HRMC Physicians Clinic, will host a question and answer session after the movie presentation. The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

This public showing is made possible through a grant from the South Dakota Department of Health. For more information or to watch the trailer, visit www.hpvepidemic.com.
