Blue Day

JH/HS track at home today.

Due to the elementary Book It Party tomorrow we have revised the lunch schedule:  10:50 grades 3, 4, and 5; 11:00 Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd; 11:10 grades 12, 11, 10, 9 – eat on the south side of the lunchroom; 11:10 7th language, 8th Math, 6th study hall; 11:35 grades 6, 7, 8  lunch; 12:12-15 MS finish previous classes.

I have a few circus tickets if anyone needs one.  They are good through 6th grade.

Awards night has been moved to May 9th.  Check out our face book event!!!!!

ACADEMICS
Friday, April 27th is extra help day.  Missing assignment lists will be given to students on Wednesday afternoon (post by noon please).  Thursday parents will be called after 1:00 to let them know if a student needs to attend extra help day from 8:00-11:00.  Get that work turned in!!!!!

ATHLETICS
It is our understanding that a varsity baseball game has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 in Wessington Springs. There is a possibility of one being played Thursday also. Will post more information when it has been confirmed.

We will be attending the junior high track meet on Thursday, April 26 at Bridgewater. The meet starts at 1:30. We will leave Sanborn Central at noon and Woonsocket at 11:45. Sanborn Central will need to leave the meet around 5:00 in order to get back for our spring concert. FFA
April 26th is the final deadline for FFA Chapter Star Applications.

Community
Letcher Confirmation Students will be taking their test on Wednesday, April 25th and then join the King’s Kids for an end of year celebration.  Arrangements have been made for Judy’s bus to deliver her normal riders to the church.  Pastor Garry will be here in the white van to pick up those who normally ride with him.  Notes explaining this were placed on student lockers.

Attention parents, grandparents, adults and youth in grades 7th and 8th on up!   The Town N Kountry Kids Blue Group is sponsoring Internet Safety for Teens on Monday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Letcher Community Center. Come listen to guest speaker Toby Russell talk about this very important topic!

Happy Birthday tomorrow to Quentin Schmidt!

Nice work cast, crew and Mrs. Danek on your matinee performance yesterday.  Can’t wait for Saturday night at 7:30 for your final production!

Congratulations to Kaylee Adams and Mason Moody – winners of movie certificates sponsored by the Sanborn Weekly Journal.  Everyone who checked out a book during National Library Week last week was entered into the drawing and these two were the luckiest!

No speech today!

Tonight’s baseball games in Canova have been cancelled. No reschedule date will be set. Saturday the JV boys are heading to Dakota Valley for two games. Leave and game times are not finalized. Sunday’s doubleheader in Springs is still on the schedule. A call will be made on Saturday.

JO 16’s & 17’s will practice at 5:30 today in Woonsocket.

The department of Labor will be here about noon to meet with select seniors.

Seniors need to interview a veteran for their final assignment in Government class. A few students are having difficulties finding a veteran in the area to interview. If any of our local veterans could give an hour of their time to one of our seniors to share their personal experiences, it would be greatly appreciated. Mark your calendar for a special night to acknowledge the academic and extracurricular success of the Rebels! We will also be honoring our retirees and their many years of dedication to our district! Track practice is CANCELLED today.  Due to needed time for play at both schools, we will not be having joint practice on Thursday.

WWTS meets in Artesian today.  CANCELLED

Tomorrow, April 19th, at 1:30 is the matinee performance of the spring play – have you brought your admission money?  Admission is $.25 for students and $5.00 for adults.  The evening performance of the spring play scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Saturday, April 21st at 7:30.  This performance will have $3.00 admission for students and $5:00 for adults.

The DOL will be here Friday about noon to visit with select seniors.

BOOSTER CLUB
The Booster Club will be meeting tonight at 8 pm in the commons of Sanborn Central.  Please join us!  If you have any requests to submit, please do so before the meeting so we are able to discuss them or they will wait until the next meeting to be discussed.  Hope to see you there!!

Softball Players:  Due to low numbers and no one willing to coach, we will NOT be able to have 10U, 12U, or 14U teams this year. At this time we are unsure of 8U. Don’t forget to return your basketball skills camp forms with payment by the 19th.  Camp is for students in 2nd thru 8th grade next year!

Mother Nature and the Spring Play are at war – thus our performances have both changed!!!!!  The matinee performance will now be held on Thursday, April 19th at 1:30 (not tomorrow).  Admission is $.25 for students and $5.00 for adults.  The evening performance of the spring play scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Saturday, April 21st at 7:30.  This performance will have $3.00 admission for students and $5:00 for adults.

Freshman & Sophomores:  If you are looking for a unique opportunity to add to your resume, love to travel, or want to network with future leaders, this is for you!  Empower Youth is a new leadership program designed to cultivate the future leaders of our communities. It involves three sessions with an opportunity to earn a scholarship at the end of the program. There is no cost to the student to participate.
           May 31 – one-day workshop with motivational speaker Craig Hillier (location pending – potentially Mitchell or Aberdeen)

BOOSTER CLUB
The Booster Club will be meeting on Wednesday April 18th at 8 pm in the commons of Sanborn Central.  Please join us!  If you have any requests to submit, please do so before the meeting so we are able to discuss them or they will wait until the next meeting to be discussed.  Hope to see you there!! 

COMMUNITY
Soccer games for Thursday have been called off.  We are looking for a date to reschedule.  Soccer games for Saturday have also been postponed to Saturday, May 12 in Woonsocket.  (Games will be completed in time for people to attend graduation)

Softball Players:  Due to low numbers and no one willing to coach, we will NOT be able to have 10U, 12U, or 14U teams this year. At this time we are unsure of 8U. We do have a coach for this team but we will need to have parents register their daughter so we get definite numbers, to determine if we will have a team.  It is suggested that girls for this team are through kindergarten.  Please return registrations by April 18th to Ashly Uecker at the school.  They can be found at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F8JjEqt2r4o-amU5yZ0OSPktg56GTXAM/view?usp=sharing

The Spring Salad Lunch hosted by the Letcher Auxiliary will be held Saturday April 21 at 11:00 -1:00 pm. Silent auction to be held so bring things you donate if you want.  $5 for adults 12 and under $3.  

The Letcher Legion pancake and sausage feed will now be held Sunday April 22 from 11 to 1:30, free will offering.
