Blue Day

Happy Birthday tomorrow to Ms. Larson tomorrow.

Today ends the 9 weeks!  MS teachers will accept late work until Class time on Monday, October 16th!  HS teachers will accept late work until class time on Tuesday, October 17^th!

Good Luck to the Football team as they host Winner tonight in Springs.  This is the final game of the regular season and will be an exciting one for Blackhawk Nation!!!!  KWYR out of Winner and KOKK (http://www.performance-radio.com/ ) out of Huron will have the Blackhawks on the air waves tonight.  The game will also be live streamed on http://winnerwarriorslive.com/football/      It is Senior Night.   We will be announcing senior cheerleaders and football players and their parents at about 6:45 pm.  

There will be no JH VB practice today – you will practice (not scrimmage) prior to Monday’s game. 

HS VB will practice at SC today.

5/6^th Basketball is in Woonsocket today.

Due to Marching band gone to Sioux Valley today there will be no 5^th-7^th band today.

FLU SHOT CLINIC – MONDAY, October 16^th

The Sanborn County Office of child and Family Services will host the Annual Flu Shot Clinic - October 16th.  Forms were previously sent home with students and available on line. Parents can access the forms by going to our web site - click on the Forms and Publications tab in the upper right corner, click on Google Drive, Health Folder, and Flu Shot Folder.

ACADEMICS

All grades need to be on report cards by 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 18th.

Econ will take their annual trip to Coborn's on Monday.  Students must be at SC by 7:45 or as soon as the buses arrive.  Students will be back for second block.  All Juniors (except Madi) will be going.

Parents of 8^th grade students: As part of Bully prevention month we will be making efforts to reduce bullying, aggressive and mean behavior in Sanborn Central school district, we are planning a special movie experience in 8^th grade guidance to view the documentary movie, BULLY.  A form will be sent home with your child granting permission to watch the movie.  Students with out a signed permission slip returned by October 24^th will not be allowed to watch the movie.  In the event that yours doesn’t make it home it can be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqebENvbk9zZGhJRVE/view?usp=sharing

ATHLETICS

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale at 12:00pm (CT) on October 13th. Tickets can ONLY be purchased online, by phone, or at the box office at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

The following students will be attending the All-State Chorus workshop at DWU on Tuesday, October 17th:  Lucy N, Ellie K, Alexis K, Katie M, Kendra M, Dayton E, Harley K, and Leighton T.  The bus will depart from Woonsocket at 7:30 am and from Sanborn Central at 7:45 am.

COMMUNITY

T-Hugs – the organization that takes cancer related T-shirts and turns them into comforting throws/quilts for people receiving cancer treatment is always looking for shirts and cash donations.  Cash donations are used to purchase stabilizer, fleece, thread, etc.  Currently Sanborn Central School, Woonsocket School, Zesto in Mitchell, and The Lounge - American Legion Post 14 in Wessington Springs are drop offs. Veterans Day dinner Sunday November 12, 2017 at 12pm at the Artesian Community Center.  The dinner is free for veterans and all others we ask a free will donation.  The dinner is sponsored by the Artesian American Legion Auxiliary and Legion.  Please RSVP to Laura Pearson at 605-999-2139 if you are planning on attending.
