Orange Day
Good Luck to the Lady Blackhawks as they kick off the season at the Hanson Early Bird Tourney today.  We play Platte-Geddes in the 2nd match on Court A tonight (approximately 6:15).  The bus will leave SC at 4:40.

The big Blackhawk Calendars are in!  We will not be distributing them to the students but feel free to stop in the office and grab yours or e-mail a request for calendars to mary.ackman@k12.sd.us

Cheerleaders will practice at SC today.

HS/JH FB will practice at Woonsocket today.

Soccer will practice at Woonsocket today.

All packet forms are due in the office Friday, August 25th.

If you didn’t purchase pictures last Friday, you can purchase them on September 20th – Picture retake day.  Please contact Mrs. Danek to get on the list.  candi.danek@k12.sd.us 

ACADEMICS
MS Students wishing to drop band must have a note from their parents!

HS students have until September 5th to drop/add classes.

Campus will automatically generate the missing assignment notifications to parents starting this Thursday, August 24th.  If you are having problems with your parent portal, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us 

ATHLETICS
Sports Pictures are scheduled for Wednesday in Woonsocket.  Coaches have the order forms – be sure to have your completed form with payment at the time your pictures are taken!  The tentative schedule is: 2:00PM- Cross Country; 2:15PM- Woonsocket VB individuals; 2:15PM- SC VB will depart; 2:45PM- JH VB individuals; 3:00PM- SC JH VB depart; Football will start around 3:45PM with individuals for Woonsocket; 4:30PM Cheerleaders.  Order forms can also be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqeSEdUQTBjVjJWVG8/view?usp=sharing

Activity passes can be purchased through the business office. The cost this year is $25/student pass, $45/adult pass, and $85 for a family (K-12 students and parents) pass. Senior citizens (65 and older) will be given free passes – just ask for yours. Feel free to call Gayle in advance and she will have them ready and waiting for you.

FFA
The South Dakota FFA Foundation is accepting applications for the Blue Jackets FFA program.  SC/W FFA can submit 5 applications to the Foundation.  The program provides a scholarship to pay for a member’s FFA jacket and tie/scarf.  Freshmen are encouraged to submit an application. - Mr. Gross

MUSIC
Ms. Batcher is getting her band program organized and is very excited to have the members of the Blackhawks band so eager for the new year.  You can find more information in the band folder on our Google Drive

 Pep Band is scheduled to play Friday night at the FB game in Woonsocket.

Have you heard??????  The SCW Winterguard Ladies are selling raffle tickets for the Garth Brooks Concert!!!!  They have 4 tickets ($300 value) in Section 118 for Sunday, September 17th at 7:30pm at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.  Raffle tickets are being sold at $10 each or 3 chances for $20.  All 4 tickets will go to one winner. With the start of the school year is money a bit tight?  Are you struggling to put meals on the table?  Check out the Sanborn County Food Pantry Give away (in partnership with Feeding South Dakota).  September 6th at 5:00 at the Woonsocket Community Center.

WWTS (Walking with the Savior) will begin on Wednesday, August 16th from 5:30-6:45 pm at the Artesian First Lutheran Church, and continue each Wednesday until next May.  Any community youth ages kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to attend.  The year will begin with puppet plays of the “Parables of Jesus” with many fun activities, games and crafts to reinforce the lessons each week.  The group will also sing songs and do some service activities with their Penny Power monies.  Judy Wormstadt and Ashly Uecker are the coordinators for WWTS.  Any helpers are always welcome.  If you have questions, call Judy at 527-2342.  Please come and join in on the fun.  Hope to see YOU the 16th
