It’s Back to
School Night at SC!
5:30pm –
7:00pm - Free picnic supper and tour of classrooms. HS students will register
with his/her advisor.
6:00pm –
Community Recognition: In honor of the district’s finalized financial
obligation for the school building. A time capsule will also be opened as part
of the ceremony.
6:30pm -
Title I Parent Meeting for all parents of students in grades K-8 in the gym
The school board will
meet on Monday, August 14th at 5:00pm. The agenda can be

First
Day of School – Wednesday, August 16th 8:15am to 12:30.
Bus
Reminder!!!! If
your child needs to be dropped off someplace other than where they were picked
up—please indicate so in writing. If the
drop off is consistently the same throughout the year, you can write a note for
the year and leave it in the office tonight. We will accept last minute changes but
prefer no calls or e-mails after 2:00pm.
Please keep in mind that some of our
busses are already running at full capacity and may not be able to accept extra
students. However, we will do the best
we can to
accommodate your requests.
School Pictures will
be taken on Friday, August 18th.
The Blackhawk football
team kicks off the season in Wagner on Friday, August 18th at
7:00pm. KOOL98 will be broadcasting the game http://kool98.com/
We’ve also been
informed that Blackhawk Coach Kolousek will be on the Q107.3 Pigskin Preview Show Friday,
August 18th. The show begins at 5 p.m., but not sure the exact time
his segment will air.
Activity passes can be
purchased through the business office. The
cost this year is $25/student pass, $45/adult pass, and $85 for a family (K-12
students and parents) pass. Senior
citizens (65 and older) will be given free passes – just ask for yours. Feel
free to call Gayle in advance and she will have them ready and waiting for you.

A reminder to students planning to participate in high school sports this fall: you must be enrolled on the first day of school in order to participate in the fall sport’s seasons.

SAVE THE DATES!!!
WWTS (Walking with the
Savior) will begin on Wednesday, August 16th from 5:30-6:45
pm at the Artesian First Lutheran Church, and continue each Wednesday until
next May. Any community youth ages kindergarten through 6th grade
are welcome to attend. The year will begin with puppet plays of the
“Parables of Jesus” with many fun activities, games and crafts to reinforce the
lessons each week. The group will also sing songs and do some service
activities with their Penny Power monies. Judy Wormstadt and Ashly Uecker
are the coordinators for WWTS. Any helpers are always welcome. If
you have questions, call Judy at 527-2342. Please come and join in on the

5th Annual Forestburg Melon Festival
Aug 19, 2017
As
in the past, there will be a car show, bean bag tournament, kids activities, a
silent auction, pork loin dinner and live music by Scotty and the Melon
Heads. Registration for the car show will begin at 3:00 pm and
for the bean bag toss at 4:00 pm. Admission is $10 with kids 12 and
under free. Hope to see you there!
