We are seeing more and more cases of influenza, pneumonia, respiratory infections, strep etc.  Please do not hesitate to stay home if you are not feeling well and see a doctor!
Influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
* It's important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.

And most importantly (see the linked brochure): When can my child go back to school after having the flu? Keep your child home from school, day care or camp for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone. (The fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) A fever is defined as 100°F (37.8°C) or higher.

ATHLETICS
Concession workers for Friday, February 24th are: Reynold and Michelle Brandenburg, Quinton and Tana Slykhuis, David and Tracey Steele, Dotty Zoss, Adolf and Angela Zoss

The Blackhawk boys had 2 record-setting performances in their win over Mitchell Christian on Thursday night.  Leading were:  Trey-record 9 3-pointers with 30 pts, 6 reb,4 ast    Trent—season record for assists(breaking brother tucker’s) 11 pts, 7 reb, 11 ast(now 140 on year) , 4 st    tater—2 pts,1 reb     trevor—7 ast    Jared--  2 pts, 3 reb, 1 st, 1 blk   Koby—2 reb  Shaun—8 pts, 9 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk    Noah—5 pts, 6 reb, 1 st   Wyatt—12 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 3 blk      We shot 27/54 FG for 50% and 6/8 FT for 75%.   Coach Olson’s comments:  Trey had an unbelievable rhythm that first half in making shots(9/10 3’s).  The boys did a great job recognizing he was hot and were making a point to get him the ball. That’s what is great about this unselfish team: they are so excited when our teammate has success and realize it is “our” shot that is going in.  Mitchell Christian has a good ballclub that can shoot the ball but I thought we really did a great job defensively and kept them out of sync the entire night. Our record now stands at 13-6 with the last regular season game vs Wess. Springs this Friday.

ATTENTON BASKETBALL PLAYERS – The following opportunity is available for our students to take advantage of should they want to: I have attached the flyer for Spring Workouts that will be taking place in Mt. Vernon starting this Sunday.  If any of your kids/parents from your town have attended one of my workouts before I hope they pass on their thoughts.  The feedback we received from our last time in Mt. Vernon was great so we are doing these workouts near you so you do not have to drive to Sioux Falls to participate in something like this.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

We have about 10 spots left in each group.  We are really big on competiting, so the more players that attend the more we can compete.  It is also good to compete with kids outside your school.  Please pass this on to any of your athletes that have an interest in basketball.

Greatly appreciated,

Josh Mueller
