Orange Day - Tutoring
Welcome Back Everyone!
No Eligibility today – but Campus will generate missing assignment reports this afternoon.

Calendar change!!!!! On Friday, February 10th, Staff will meet in Mt. Vernon at 1:00 for our second SIVN sharing session.  We will dismiss school at 12:30, after lunch has been served. 

Gone to the One Act Play Competition today with Mrs. Danek are: Madi M, Breanne B, Koby L, Austin S, Catherine B, and Renee F.  Break a Leg one and all!

The Lady Blackhawks travel to Wessington Springs tonight.  The JH girls tip off at 5:15 followed by JV/V.  The bus will leave SC at 4:10.

Friday – January 27th – SC Gym – 7:00-9:00pm – an evening full of fun activities to encourage families to be healthy and active. Grades K-5 /Parents are welcome. Forms can be found here and are due back today. With the days we missed this week you can also e-mail Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us

ATHLETICS
Midco Sports will be airing a story about Myah Selland tonight on the Midco Sports Channel during their Varsity Sports Show. The show starts at 6:30pm and the story will air sometime during the show. Not everyone gets the Midco Sports Channel. It will be available on their website, https://www.midcosn.com/ on Thursday for those that don't get the Channel on their cable or satellite.  Here's the link

On Saturday, January 28th, the JH Girls participate in the CBH Tourney at Corsica.  We play Corsica/Stickney at 9:00.

On Saturday, January 28th, the Varsity Boys participate in the Hefty Seed Classic at Dakota State.  We are scheduled to play Coleman/Egan at 1:30.  The bus will leave Woony at 10:30 and pick up SC at 10:45PM

Don’t forget the Cheer Camp Sunday – January 29th – at 2:00 at SC!!!

On Monday, January 30th (Ethan Double Header) a large crowd is anticipated.  We ask that the JV and Varsity girl and boy players park your cars in front of the school on the north side before the games begin – THANK YOU!

Pep Band will not play for the Ethan games as previously scheduled.

The Basketball games with Hanson have been rescheduled for January 31st.

CARING
Paisley King, 6 month old daughter of Brooke (Zoss) and Steve King was diagnosed on Friday with hepatoblastoma (liver cancer). Miss Paisley is currently at the Castle in Sioux Falls and ready to begin treatment. Brooke and Steve, as well as some her grandparents, are graduates from our district. I will be doing a Scentsy Fundraiser for Paisley, Daughter of Brooke and Steve King. Paisley King, infant daughter of Steven and Brooke (Zoss) King of Letcher, was recently diagnosed with liver cancer.  All proceeds will go to the family.

A website has been started for the Playing for Paisley Bean Bag Tournament being held on Saturday, March 4. You can find it at www.letchersd.com/paisley and it will be updated on a regular basis with donations and Silent Auction Contributions as well as other important information. Paisley King is the 6 month old daughter of Steven and Brooke (Zoss) King of Letcher and is currently undergoing treatment for liver cancer.

COMMUNITY
RESCHEDULED BOOK SALE
THE FRIENDS OF THE WOONSOCKET COMMUNITY LIBRARY are having a used book 
sale at the Woonsocket School Commons on Tuesday, January 31st will run 
from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm in conjunction with Hanson vs. Sanborn Central 
Woonsocket basketball games. There are lots of Children through Adult 
hard cover and paperback books, some magazines, videos, audio and 1952, 
53, 54, 55, 56 Woonsocket School Annuals.
The purchase price is a monetary donation to the Friends of the

Josh Mueller and Garrett Callahan (ex-SDSU great) our expanding our basketball academy and have been allowed to use Mt. Vernon as a home base in your area. Attached is a flyer for our team tryouts next Sunday (Jan 29th) for grades 3-8 boys and girls. This could be a great opportunity for your youth without having to drive all the way to Sioux Falls for something like this. We have staff that include Jordan Miller (ex Mitchell and SMSU great) Micheal Tviedt (ex-NDSU) and many other former high school and college standouts.
