ATHLETICS
A 5/6th girls traveling basketball team is being formed.  Mr. McCain will be passing out more information to students today.  This Saturday, December 3rd, you will be sharing the Woonsocket gym from 10-11:15 am with the 3/4th grade girls.

FFA
Mr. Gross will be gone thru December 5th.  His Blue days will be covered by Vickie in study hall.  Orange Days Mr. Bowman will be here through 3rd block.   Regardless of the day, he expects all work to be turned in on time or he will deduct points.  Either give your completed work to Mr. Bowman or Vickie during class time or bring it to the office.

The following students will be gone Monday, December 5th for SD FFA State Leadership Development Events (LDEs):  Noah D, Cayden S, Katie S, and Samantha D.  Good Luck and have fun!

COMMUNITY
The Artesian Area WWTS Christmas program will be Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 6:30 pm at Artesian First Lutheran Church.  The program titled “Too-oo-oo-oo Busy” will find the group searching for the true meaning of Christmas.  There will also a birthday celebration honoring Jesus birthday.  Lunch and fellowship will follow the program.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Woonsocket Community Club has again invited us to participate in their Christmas Caring Tree project.  If you know of a family who may be in need of a little extra help this year, please let Mary Ackman know by calling the school (495-4183) or e-mailing her at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us    The deadline for form submittal is December 14th to Mary.  First National Bank in Woonsocket has the tree with the “Wish Cards” for you to pick up.  Donations can be taken to First National Bank, in Woonsocket, and given to a teller there or bring to Mary at Sanborn Central.

Orange Day – Tutoring

Winterguard will practice at SC today at 5:45.  Your camp on Saturday will be held at SC starting at 8:45.

ATHLETICS
There was a change to the 3/4th Girls Basketball Schedule – Saturday, December 10th you will practice at Woonsocket for about an hour!

Any volleyball players 7-12 that have not handed in their uniform needs to do so as soon as possible and varsity players need to also hand in the jackets.

Please note the addition of a C game on December 12th:  6PM- JH Girls; 7PM- JH Boys; 8PM- C Girls

December 20th, when the Blackhawks travel to Plankinton for a double header are here for a double header, they are hosting their 7th Annual Shoot for A Cure Night.  This event is sponsored by the Plankinton Student Council along with a whole host of other organizations.   They do a supper, silent auction (which basket donations are always accepted until the event begins), half time pop a shot games and raffles!  All proceeds are then given to the Aurora County Cancer Fund, LLC.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact sue.faulhaber@k12.sd.us   More information can be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqeSDVqN0RyTzFSTXc/view?usp=sharing

BAND FOOD SALES NEED TO BE TURNED INTO THE OFFICE TODAY!!!

Mr. Kroeger is gone today.  No band or lessons…….6/7th Band will have study hall with Mrs. Vermeulen at 2:39 in the music room.   8th Band will report to Mrs. Coulthard at 11:35.  HS Band will report to the gym for study hall with Mr. Siemsen today.

Dual Credit applications are now being accepted for the spring semester. There are applications in Mrs. Johnson's office. We need to have all applications sent in prior to Christmas vacation.

You also all have access to free ACT Prep through SD Mylife which has proven to increase test scores by 3 points. See Mrs. Johnson for more info.

Attention 3rd and 4th Grade Girls: Kayla Olson’s Basketball Camp will start at the beginning of December.  Each practice will start at 10:00 am, so please have the girls to the designated gym by 9:50.  The practices will last for 45 minutes to an hour, but the girls are welcome to stay after to work on fundamentals.  The schedule is as follows:

Orange Day – Tutoring
School Dismisses at 1:30 on Wednesday, November 23rd!

Congratulations to Myah Selland for being selected to the volleyball 1st Team All-State, which will be announced in the upcoming days.  Myah is also one of the players in the state that is in the running for Miss Volleyball.  The winner will be announced at a Banquet on December 3rd in the Harrisburg North North Middle School at 7:00 pm.  Myah will than play in the All-Star Match on December 4th in the Harrisburg North Middle School at 2:00 pm.

Just in case you’ve forgotten why we are Blackhawk Proud……. Mr. Gross was awarded the Teacher Turn the Key Award at the SDAAE Conference this past summer.  As a part of this award, Mr. Gross will represent South Dakota at the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the conference, he will participate in special programming and professional development specific to this award area.

The football program will have their Awards Night on Monday, November 21st at 6:30 pm in Wessington Springs at elementary school. This is for players in grades 7-12.  This is a potluck.  Below are the potluck assignments:   Seniors and Juniors – hot dish, Sophomores – salad, Freshmen – dessert, 8th graders – hot dish, 7th graders – salad or dessert. We will provide plates, silverware, napkins, and drink.  Coach Ross Cimpl from DWU will be the guest speaker.

Friday- Secret-Agent Theme (Chosen by Sanborn Central Student Body)

 A meeting room at the YWCA on east side of crossroads has been reserved for a SOCIAL by the booster clubs for SC/W parents/players/fans on Thursday after the first session around 4:30PM. A taco bar from Taco Johns will be set up and socials for Friday and Saturday will be announced at a later time.  

SDPBS will be airing Saturday night’s games on TV.  You can watch live all 3 days at http://www.sdpb.org/volleyball/2016-2017/  as well as live game statistics, photos, social media and blog posts at that same website.

A WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION has been scheduled for 11:30AM on Sunday, November 20th, in the Woonsocket Gym.  A caravan will meet and escort the team from the 3 mile corner east of Woonsocket starting at 11:15AM.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to show support for our Blackhawk Girls Volleyball Team. 

There will be school on November 23rd with a 1:30 dismissal!

Today is Student Day at Sanborn Central – the very reason all of us are here.  These young minds brighten our every day!  Elementary Students will enjoy a movie and popcorn. HS students will be dismissed at 1:00 this afternoon for a movie in Mr.  Flatten’s room - Popcorn will be provided and students may bring a drink or purchase a drink from the concession stand for $1.  You will need exact change for drinks!

ATHLETICS
The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawk football program will have their Awards Night on Monday, November 21st at 6:30 pm in Wessington Springs at elementary school. This is for players in grades 7-12.  This is a potluck.  Below are the potluck assignments:   Seniors and Juniors – hot dish, Sophomores – salad, Freshmen – dessert, 8th graders – hot dish, 7th graders – salad or dessert. We will provide plates, silverware, napkins, and drink.  Coach Ross Cimpl from DWU will be guest speaker.

There will be a 7-12 boys basketball meeting at SC on Monday (Nov. 21) at 2:45PM.  7th/8th practice and HS boys open gym will follow at SC. Boys JH and HS open gym will be held after school at SC also on Tuesday and Wednesday (note: Wednesday early dismissal at 1:30PM)

The following students will be attending the Junior High Music Festival in Platte on November 22nd:  Cassidy S, Lucy N, Shania C, Teya M, Harley K, Leighton T, Dayton E, Ellie K, Dana S, Brighten H, Destiny M, and Alexis K.  The bus will be leaving Sanborn Central at 6:15 a.m.
