A huge thank you to the HS Student Council for providing us with a wonderful Veteran’s Day Program this morning.  What a great way to honor our Veterans!!!!!!!

SC Election Results:  SC Governor Race (7-12) - Feistner 64%, Selland 27%, Forschler 9%
Presidential Race (K-12) - Trump 59%, Johnson 21%, Clinton 20%

Due to the Lady Blackhawks qualifying for the State VB Tournament next week in Huron, the school calendar has been revised.
         November 17th will be our Extra Help Day, previously scheduled for Nov. 23rd
         No school Friday, Nov. 18 
         Make up day of school on Wednesday, Nov. 23rd with an early 1:30PM dismissal-- This will be a Blue Day

With the revisions to the calendar, our Academic Extra Help Day has been moved. Missing assignment reports will be ran on Monday, November 14th and given to students.   All missing assignments must be turned in by noon on Wednesday, November 16th.  Students with a failing grade or missing assignment must be here from 8:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, November 17th.

T-Shirt for State VB forms are due at 3:00 today.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 Kick Off is today at 2:30 for all students in grades PreK-8th.

Next week is American Education Week.  Monday is Administration Day – Administration may wear jeans.  Tuesday is Teacher/Support Staff Day – you may wear jeans.  Wednesday is Student/Community Day – Parents and community members are invited to visit.  Students will enjoy a movie and popcorn.

VB practices at SC today.

7/8th Girls will practice at Woonsocket today.

5/6th G/B go to Iroquois today for games beginning at 6:00.  Good Luck and have fun!

Winterguard practices at 5:30 today at SC.  A parent meeting will be held at 7:00.  If you are in Winterguard please make sure someone in your family is there to attend.

3/4th Boys practice in Woonsocket tonight at 6:00.

We have adjusted our lunch/breakfast menus for the change in our calendar.  The mini pancakes will be served on November 23rd as well as the Chicken a la king.

ACADEMICS

Dual Credit applications are now being accepted for the spring semester. There are applications in Mrs. Johnson's office. We need to have all applications sent in prior to Christmas vacation. 

Mitchell High School is offering an ACT prep class on Monday nights starting November 14th - December 5th. The cost is $50. See Mrs. Johnson for details.  You also all have access to free ACT Prep through SD Mylife which has proven to increase test scores by 3 points. See Mrs. Johnson for more info. 

There will be a Smarter Balanced Mtg at 7:45 on Tuesday, November 15th in the MS Lab – grades 3-5, MS/HS Math and LA

ATHLETICS
Watch out Huron – the Lady Blackhawks are coming to town!!!! We play Northwestern at noon on Thursday, November 17th in the State Volleyball Tournament.

Theme Days for the Tourney are:
Thursday: Cowboy-Country Theme(Chosen by Woonsocket Student Body)
Friday: Secret-Agent Theme (Chosen by Sanborn Central Student Body)
Saturday: Everyone BLACKHAWK DAY

A meeting room at the YWCA on east side of crossroads has been reserved for a SOCIAL by the booster clubs for SC/W parents/players/fans on Thursday after the first session around 4:30PM. A taco bar from Taco Johns will be set up and socials for Friday and Saturday will be announced at a later time. 

Tickets will be sold in Huron at the Huron Arena starting one hour before. There will be no advanced sale to the qualifying school. 

The schedule for the Cancer Tournament to be played in Woonsocket on November 12th has been uploaded to our Google Drive

MUSIC
A combined band rehearsal will be held next Tuesday (15th) morning from 8:30-9:40 at Woonsocket in preparation for the concert that night.  Bus will leave SC at 8:15.

Hi all – We are planning for the Blackhawks March Band Concert with fundraiser next Tuesday, November 15 in Woonsocket.  We have decided to serve a meal prior to the concert…from 5:30-7.  We will be serving both lasagna and tater tot hot dish, along with breadstick, lettuce, bar or cookie and drink.  Free will offering with proceeds to band. We are asking each Woonsocket family to donate either a pan of lasagna or a pan of tater tot hot dish.   We also need donations of a pan of bars or cookies from some Woonsocket families, and invite.  ItJSanborn Central families to help us out in that area if you would like would be good if the bars/cookies were at the school by noon as well, but no later than 5:00. And, we need a few donated bottles of salad dressing for the lettuce.  Thank you!! Paula Linke plinke@santel.net  
  
Booster Club
There will be a Booster Club meeting on Sunday, November 13th at 4:30 in the SC commons (following adult volleyball games).  Please let me know if you have any items that need to be addressed!!

American Education week is November 14th -16th.  November 16th is Community/Parent Day – If you would be willing to read to a class (or know someone who would) please let us know.  Community members/parents are more than welcome.  Call 495-4183 or e-mail mary.ackman@k12.sd.us  

From November 12 to November 27th, any veteran can get a $40 voucher to buy whatever they want in the Goodwill Store...they just need their ID.
