Blue Day

Congratulations to Sawyer Senska who placed 3rd in poetry, and to Alex Wormstadt and Eric Ruml who placed 4th in duet at the CBH Oral Interpretation Contest held in Mitchell on Tuesday.

9-12 Volleyball practices in Woonsocket today.

HS Football will also practice in Woonsocket today.

WWTS meets in Artesian today.

The Junior Class would like to thank everyone for their support in the “Longest Yard”!   There are still a few yards left!  Here’s how it works ~ “The Longest Yard", the juniors are selling yard lines for the Blackhawk Football game on Thursday, Oct. 20^th vs. Hitchcock-Tulare at SC.  For $10, you get a yard line.  If the last play of the first half ends on that yard line, (regardless of what end) you will receive $100!  The juniors will automatically get the 50 yard line but end zone through 49 are available.  If the last play of the half is a touchdown, the end zone will receive the cash, or if a player is tackled at the 21 yard line as time expires, the person with the 21 yard line wins, etc. (Extra Point/2 point conversions will not count as yard lines, but as end zone).​  You can talk to a junior, or email Mrs. Susan Farrell-Poncelet at susan.farrell-poncelet@k12.sd.us to reserve a yard line.  

ACADEMICS

Seniors and Parents - Financial Aid night will be November 7th at 6:00pm at the Woonsocket School. We will be learning about the Federal Student Aid Application (FASFA) and school loans. 

The quarter ends this Friday, October 14^th!!!!!  Please pay close attention to your parent portal and encourage your student to do their very best………If you are having problems with your portal – Contact Mary at 495-4183 or mary.ackman@k12.sd.us

ATHLETICS

Another change in the 5/6^th Basketball Schedule!!!   As a request by Wess. Springs, the 5th/6th BB games vs. Wess. Springs will be moved from Monday, Oct. 17 to Tuesday, Oct. 18 starting with the girls at 6PM followed by boys. 

Thursday – October 13^th is Dig Pink Night at KWL!  They will have silent auctions and concession stand specials!

On October 17^th the JH football team going to Hanson. Leave WS at 2:45 and pick up players along the way.  Also, the same day the JV team going to Parkston.  Also leave WS at 2:45 and pick up players along the way.  Varsity will have practice at 4:00 pm in Woonsocket that day.

MUSIC

Winterguard meeting for previous members will be at Woonsocket at 5:30 in the band room tonight

The following students will be attending the SDSU All-State Chorus prep day in Brookings on Thursday, October 13th:  Breanne B, Madi M, Renee F, Adriana S, Byron J, Cole M, Koby L, and Weston B.  The bus will leave from Woonsocket at 6:30 a.m. and Sanborn Central at 6:45 a.m.  Students will need to bring money for lunch.

HEALTH

Have you returned your flu shot form?       Flu shot forms were sent home with elementary students.  Forms were placed on every middle school and high school locker last night. Forms need to be returned by Thursday, October 13^th.  Flu shots will be given on October 27^th. Students – please make sure your parents see these.  Extra forms are available in the office.
