Next
Week is Homecoming!!!!! The week kicks
off with SCHS’ coronation at 7:00 pm Monday.
Our candidates are: Garrett Dean,
Logun Feistner, Trevor Olson, Maddie Vermeulen, Kayla Olson, & Myah
Selland.
The
Homecoming theme is Summer Thrills - Tuesday- Livin’ in the 90’s,
Wednesday - Biker Day (Sturgis Style), Thursday- Olympic Sports Day, and Friday-
Spirit Day
HOMECOMING- PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!!
Sanborn Central will be participating in the Woonsocket Homecoming parade on
September 9th. The parade begins at 1:00 in
Woonsocket. Parent Chaperones are asked to meet their designated grade
level/teacher in the Woonsocket School parking lot at 12:30. You will be
assigned a group of students to monitor. If you wish to pick up your
student following the parade in Woonsocket, you will need to complete the form
(linked below) and return to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, September 7th.
No form – No exceptions.
The original calendar indicated that school
would dismiss at 12:30 that day. However, the route busses will not run
until we return from the parade. The estimated time for the route busses
to leave here is 2:30.
High
school students will be having activities that morning. Band students
will depart at 11:30 on a bus for Woonsocket. All band students will be
returned to SC by bus after the parade. Any band student wishing to drive
themselves must have written parental permission slips turned into the office
by Wednesday, Sept 7th at noon. Students car pooling
must have written permission from both sets of parents. Any student planning on
not attending school on the 9th must have written parental
permission slips turned in by Wednesday the 7th or will be
issued an unexcused absence.
Academics
Tuesday – September 6th is the last day for high
school students to change classes.
Thursday,
September 8th we will do our first eligibility of the year!!!!!
September
8th at 8:15 the Juniors will be ASVAB testing. If you do not want your student’s scores
released to the military, please sign and return the form listed below to the
office. These letters have also been
placed on the student’s locker.

Football at Woonsocket today.
A change
to the volleyball schedule for today! 6th
grade will not practice today. All 7-12
will practice in Woonsocket. If you are
a band student – don’t forget your instrument.
Cross
Country - Due to heat index and temperatures forecasted for Thursday---the
cross country meet in Redfield will begin @ 10:00am instead of 4:00pm.
Bus will leave from Woonsocket at 8:00 am!!! Good Luck Runners!
Thursday
the Lady Blackhawks host Ethan at Woonsocket.
The JH starts at 5:15 followed by JV and Varsity. All games should be on Woonsocket’s Santel
Channel as well as their HS Cube. Remember that Woonsocket is considered a home

Woonsocket’s
NHS is having a Pizza Feed tomorrow night at the
Volleyball Games against Ethan. It will be $3 for a slice of pizza or $5 for
two.
Q107
will be broadcasting Friday’s football game from Hanson. Cheering for a Blackhawk win!
We’ve had
another revision to the 5/6th Basketball schedule. Here’s the
latest
Tuesday,
September 6th we have JH and JV football at Woonsocket starting at
3:30 pm. Coach Flatten wants the
players dismissed at 2:40 to get dressed and head to Woonsocket. We will need to have all JH/JV players
dressed and ready at field by 3:10 at latest. JV players probably be at
field at that time as well.
FFA
Ag I, II, III, and IV students need to bring $5 to pay for
their meal at the Woonsocket Land and Range School. Please bring your
money to Mr. Gross ASAP.

State Chorus auditions will be held on September 7 at 11:30 in the music room.
Those not auditioning will report to the gym for study hall.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! On Wednesday,
September 7th,
2016, Sanborn County Food Pantry, in partnership with Feeding South Dakota,
will be hosting a truckload food giveaway in Woonsocket, SD. An estimated
22,000 pounds of food will be distributed beginning at 5 PM and continuing until all of the food is
gone. There are no restrictions of eligibility – just one box per family!
