Rebel Excitement is in the air as we are just days away from the 1st day of school!  Our Back to School Night is August 15th.  A free supper begins at 5:30 with students and parents visiting the classrooms and meeting with staff until 7:00pm.

It has been announced by the National FFA Organization that, at this year’s national convention, SC/W FFA members Jarid Bechen and Ty Swenson will receive their American FFA Degree.  The American FFA Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs).  Each year, less than 1% of FFA members receive this degree, making it one of the organization’s highest honors. Jarid and Ty will be the 8th and 9th members from Sanborn County to have ever received this award.  We are Blackhawk Proud!!!!!!

Congratulations Mr. Gross – Blackhawk Proud again!!!!  As a means of encouraging young teachers to remain in the profession and to encourage and recognize participation in professional activities, National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) presents the Teachers Turn the Key Award.  The Teachers Turn the Key award includes a year-long professional development program which focuses on providing early-career ag teachers with the tools and support they need to grow and flourish in the profession. Participants are challenged to improve their teaching and classroom management, develop time management skills, and immerse themselves in professional development activities that will support their professional goals.  At this year’s South Dakota Association of Agricultural Educators (SDAAE) summer conference, Mr. Gross was awarded the Teachers Turn the Key Award.  As a part of this award, Mr. Gross will represent South Dakota at the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the conference, he will participate in special programming and professional development specific to this award area.

The Middle School and HS School Schedules have been uploaded to our Google Drive under the Forms & Publications Tab – Calendars & Schedules Folder.  Letters to MS/HS Students were mailed earlier this week.

There were some discrepancies with the High School Schedule that was mailed out.  The new and revised schedule can be found on our Google Drive and available in the office.

Bussing
Here comes the school bus!!!!!   Once again Sanborn Central will do our best to ensure that our students get to the right place after school.  We rely on parental communication to make this happen.

If your child/children are not being dropped off at the same point they were picked up in the morning PLEASE send a written note or make a call to school prior to 3:00pm.  We will not honor/recognize a student coming to school saying, “Mom said I’m supposed to go to Grandma’s tonight.” or just getting on a different bus.

We do understand that situations arise requiring last minute changes and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Feel free to contact us with any questions.

New Students……If you know of anyone new in the area that plans on coming to our school, please ask them to contact us at 495-4183.
