Blue Day
Good Luck Lady Blackhawks!!  We play Springs at 4:00 in the Huron Arena in the 2nd round of Districts today.  KOKK radio will be broadcasting the game http://www.performance-radio.com/sports/
Fans are showing their Hawaiian Spirit tonight!

Today is the deadline for signing up for the Redfield CDE’s FFA members.

Boys will not practice tonight so they can make the short rip to Huron!  Staff attending the game may leave after busses.

Winterguard practices in Woonsocket today after the girls game in Huron.

Tomorrow FFA treats us to donuts for a mere $.75 each!  It’s also Blue & Gold Day at SC – show your support!

Sanborn Central Soccer is looking for some high school or middle school students that would be interested in refereeing our soccer games at Sanborn Central!  You do not need to have any previous experience!  There is a free referee clinic in Huron on March 12, 2016.  We will also pay you for each game you ref!!!  Please contact Jeremy Uecker 999-1875 or Roxann Larson 770-2077 for more information!  ​

ACADEMICS
Friday, February 26th is our extra help day.  We will run missing assignment reports for students from Campus Wednesday morning.  We will re-run the campus list Thursday, February 25th and begin calling parents at 1:00.  Students - be sure to check out your portal and get a head start on any missing assignments.  Teachers be sure to use the missing and turned in options in your grade book!

Next week the Elementary students will be Celebrating Dr Seuss Day all week long.  You can find the breakdown and dress up days at

Western Dakota Tech is hosting our Next Eagle Night on March 1st beginning at 5:30 pm.  Eagle nights provide students with the perfect opportunity to explore WDT.  Students interested in applying to WDT may apply at our Eagle Nigh.  We do ask that students interested in attending Eagle Night RSVP on line at www.wdt.edu or by calling 605-718-2565.  Mrs. Johnson also has information.

ATHLETICS

As long as the Blackhawks win in District Play – game day will be a spirit day!

 The 3/4 Girls will play Friday night, Feb 26 in Wessington Springs.  Please have your child to the Wessington Springs Gym at 5:15.  Please wear a black shirt.  We will follow the same format used when we played Springs in Woonsocket.  The girls will play a scrimmage at the half time of the JH and JV Boys games.

 Penny War Standings: PreK +270, 3rd grade +109, 8th grade +11, 5th grade -73, 4th grade -86, 6th grade -102, 1st grade -103, 7th grade -110, KDG and 2nd grade are even at 0.  Remember pennies count as good points with the silver deducting points.   All proceeds will go to the Believe Scholarship Fund. 

MISCELLANEOUS
The Girl Scouts are selling cookies.  Varieties include Thanks-A-Lot, Cranberry Citrus, Lemonade, Short Bread, Thin Mints, Peanut Butter, Caramel Delites, and Peanut Butter Sandwich.  If you wish to purchase some – see Sidney Salas!  

Jackrabbit Fans…….SDSU is starting a new annual contest, the SD School Challenge.  This year, we have partnered with the Children’s Museum of South Dakota to assist in promotion.  The concept is quite simple.  For every ticket order that is placed for the February 27th game, their school affiliation will get entered to win a visit from Jack (the SDSU mascot) at their school. More information can be found at

I have finished the Sanborn Central Elementary DonorsChoose.org project. COMMUNITY
Artesian Area WWTS (Walking With the Savior) will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 24th from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Artesian First Lutheran Church.  The program welcomes ALL youth ages kindergarten through sixth grade and will meet weekly on Wednesdays.  Youth are encouraged to come and experience the fun and learning of puppet plays, Bible stories and activities, crafts and singing.  Hope to see you there!!!!!

The Woonsocket School will be hosting a Sunday Funday Fundraiser on February 28th to help support the Community Center Theater Project. There will be different activities and games from 1PM-6PM and all ages Pre-School to High School are able to attend. A full schedule of activities can be found on the Google Drive.
