Orange Day

Congratulations to Logan Effling & Byron Jessen for being selected as one of six finalists for the South Dakota Bankers Association Business Plan Competition. Their product/business, Citronet, specializes in producing mosquito nets made of nylon blended with citronella oils that naturally repels insects.  They will go to Pierre on Feb. 10th to present their product to panel of judges and will be guaranteed a $300 prize and could take home $1,000 and an IPad if they win the competition.  Kayla Olson was named an alternate and will receive $100 dollars and will make the trip to Pierre also if a finalists cannot attend.

The Blackhawk boys BB team defeated Hanson last night by a score of 56-50.  Helping the team were:  Dillon- 13 pts,4 reb    Trevor- 1 reb, 2 ast, 2 st   Tucker-8 pts,1 reb,6 ast, 3 st   Trent- 5 pts, 1 st   Josh-8 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast, 3 st   Brady- 10 pts, 5 reb, 1 st, 3 blk   Rex- 2 pts, 1 reb, 2 st   Wyatt- 10 pts, 2 reb 1 ast    We shot 21/45 FG for 47%   and 9/14 FT for 69%  We were outrebounded 24-16.  Coach Olson’s comments:   Hanson is the tallest team on our schedule at 6’4”,6’5”, 6’7” and 6’2” at guard.  Defensively I thought we played well. We just need to reward our effort by boxing out and finishing the rebound.  Offensively, their zone was very hard to find the gaps with their length.  Playing against zones has not been a problem for us this year but we really had to search for shots against Hanson’s size.  I felt Wyatt, Rex, Trent, and Garrett Larson gave us a great boost off the bench.

Girls practice at SC and Boys at Woony today.
