Good Luck to the JH teams as they travel to Wolsey today.  The girls play at 6:00 with the boys to follow.
The Lady Blackhawks fell to Highmore/Harrold last night in the 281 Championship games 53-58. Leaders were Leaders: Myah Selland 25 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals; Morgan Selland 9 points and 6 assists; Maddie Vermeulen 8 points, 5 steals and 2 assists
The guys placed 4th in the 281 tournament yesterday.

The Hanson Boys Classic Saturday, January 24th, finds the Blackhawks playing White River at 8:30.  The best place to be will be a padded seat at the Corn Palace - bring your Blackhawk Pride as well as hands ready to clap and voices ready to cheer.  If you can’t be there, you have many options to follow the Blackhawks - Santel Channel 90, KMIT http://kmit.com/ or Hanson’s High School Cube http://thecube.com/cube/hanson-high-school-01-alexandria-south-dakota

There will be a fundraiser for Chloe Degen, Eric Ruml and Cole Moody on Sunday, January 25th from 11am-130pm at the Letcher Community Center.  It will consist of a soup and sandwich dinner for a free will donation.  There will also be a silent auction on pies made by area bakers!  If you are interested in donating a pie for the silent auction, please contact Amy Moody at 770-6016, Sara Adams at 999-1702 or Christie Ruml at 999-4324.  Cole, Chloe and Eric will be going on an educational trip to Washington DC in May 2015.
The St. Charles Parish annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw contest will be held on Sunday, January 25th at 1:00 pm at the Sanborn Central Gym.  This is open to all boys and girls ages 9-14. Age group is determined by how old the student is on January 1st of 2015.  Any athlete may participate as long as they have not shot at another parish competition.  Winners will advance on to district competition in Howard on Feb 8th at 1:00pm.  For more information contact Troy Olson at 999-1058 or olsona@santel.net.
Note – date change: If 8th grade Ag students do not have a project and materials to work on during shop time by February 4th, they will start to lose points.  This is due to working on small projects to assist upcoming benefits.  Mr. Gross

The Sanborn Central Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Tanna Kingsbury “Believe” Scholarship fundraising night on Jan.27 when the Boys’ Blackhawks play the Hanson Beavers in Forestburg. Events for the evening will include a sandwich supper meal, grab bag auction, and silent auction.  Anyone interested in donating items to the silent auction should contact a Foundation Board member.  All monies raised will go towards matching the $50,000 challenge put forth by the Boyd & Dody Hopkins family.

Just in……...Some of the items on the silent auction for Tanna’s  “Believe” Scholarship night include:  purses, candle and flower swag, MJ Aviation flight for 2, Artesian Seed Service package, garden products package, lawn fertilizer from Aurora Co Op, Wensman Seed, and more still being added.

Our One Act Play cast and crew are getting ready for their competition Wednesday, January 28th  at 2:30 at the Huron High School.  The drama entitled “War Letters” is under the direction of Mrs. Danek.  Cast and Crew include Tyler Johnson, Breanne Brandenburg, Leah Baysinger, and Allysha Duffel.  It would be a great day for a drive to Huron!
Note: The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket FFA is seeking individuals interested in being a coach for FFA CDEs(Career Development Events).  Students have signed up for the following CDE areas: Ag Business Management, Agricultural Mechanics, Agronomy, Vet Science, Natural Resources, Meats, Milk Quality and Products, Horse Evaluation, and Floriculture.  If you are interested in helping in some way or have any questions, please contact Mr. Gross at shane.gross@k12.sd.us. We have a deal for you!!!! Have you enjoyed watching any of the sports videos provided by the Woonsocket Journalism class?  The class has put together a CD of fall sports videos - volleyball and football included!  A sneak peek proved the videos are excellent and fun to watch!  The class is asking for free will donations to cover their expenses. $5-10 would be cheap for these!  If you would like to purchase one contact Mary Ackman at 495-4183 or mary.ackman@k12.sd.us

The Glass Slipper 2015 date is confirmed!! Saturday, February 21st from 9am to 3pm at the Wesleyan Church on 6th and Sanborn!! Any Prom dresses, shoes, or jewelry donations can be dropped off at the church office Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm. We will be collecting at Sanborn Central also.
