Good Luck to the varsity Lady Blackhawks as they travel to Wolsey for the first round of the 281 Tournament.  The bus will leave here at 1:50. We play Iroquois at 3:30. Saturday they play Warner in the Hanson Classic at 8:30.
Today is the last day for high school students to switch classes.
Lost on Buck’s Bus last Friday we believe…….a pair of black and grey ear buds.  If you have found them, please let Mary know.
Good Luck to the Varsity Guys as they play Springs at 1:00 tomorrow in the 281 Tournament at Wolsey.  The bus will depart from SC at 11:30.
Blackhawks Fans:  Saturday has been declared “Blackout Day” for the Boys game in Wolsey vs. Wessington Springs and for the Girls game at the Corn Palace vs. Warner!  Come dressed in black and cheer on the Blackhawks!!

Wolsey has add the High School Cube to their gym!  They plan on live streaming the game on the thecube.com - search for Wolsey-Wessington.  We have had some issues with the sound, but we hope everything works well on Friday and Saturday.


The 281 Tournament on Friday/Saturday will be aired on the Wolsey Santel Channel (102) and on KOKK. http://www.kokk.com/   KOKK will also have live streaming from the arena after the first round games.
The pairings for the Girls Hanson Classic have been uploaded to our Google drive – Forms & Publications – Athletics – Basketball

Due to the construction/remodeling taking place at the Corn Palace, we are asking for your assistance and cooperation during the up-coming 2015 Hanson Classic.   We will be utilizing a special designated area at the front door entrance to the city hall building located just north of the Corn Palace main entrance.  The entrance for Teams, Coaches, and Officials will be permitted at the back south east door as in the past.
Please join DWU basketball teams and the Mitchell Heart & Sole in their annual Pink the Palace Event – DWU Basketball Games with Nebraska Wesleyan – January 18th – 2:00 Women & 4:00 Men.   More information can be found in our Community folder on the Google Drive


Congratulations to alumnus Lara Brink, who grew up in Artesian, a 2011 graduate of Sanborn Central High School. She is the daughter of Karen Lambert and Roger Brink of Artesian, and the grand daughter of Clair & Phyllis Lambert of Fulton, SD .  Lara is on the Dean's List at NSU and is active in marching band, concert band, concert choir, and music sorority.  Northern State University seniors Lara Brink and Joseph Weseloh will have a joint recital on Sunday, Jan. 25.  The recital, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. in Krikac Auditorium. Breaking news in the area……..The Country Pumper will be serving noon specials for a mere $7.50 (drinks not included) starting Monday.  Take out is available by calling 495-4242

There will be a fundraiser for Chloe Degen, Eric Ruml and Cole Moody on January 25th from 11am-130pm at the Letcher Community Center.  It will consist of a soup and sandwich dinner for a free will donation.  There will also be a silent auction on pies made by area bakers!  If you are interested in donating a pie for the silent auction, please contact Amy Moody at 770-6016, Sara Adams at 999-1702 or Christie Ruml at 999-4324.  Cole, Chloe and Eric will be going on an educational trip to Washington DC in May 2015.


SAVE THE DATE: The Sanborn Central Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Tanna Kingsbury “Believe” Scholarship fundraising night on Jan.27 when the Boys’ Blackhawks play the Hanson Beavers in Forestburg. Events for the evening will include a sandwich supper meal, grab bag auction, and silent auction.  Anyone interested in donating items to the silent auction should contact a Foundation Board member.  All monies raised will go towards matching the $50,000 challenge put forth by the Boyd & Dody Hopkins family.  Board members include:  Steph Edwards, Tambi Wormstadt, Jo Oberg, Troy Olson, Steve Larson, Linda Whitney, and Candi Danek.  Watch for more details.
