The Blackhawk boys ran their record to 5-1 with a 64-49 win over KWL.  Helping the cause:  Joe—4 pt,5 reb,1 assist,2 steals;  Dillon—15 pt,3 reb,1 assist,1 steal, 1 block;Trevor—4 pt,2 reb, 3 assist;, Tucker—5 pt, 6 reb, 12 assists, 6 steals;  Austin—5 pts,  Josh—6 pts,2 reb, 3 assists;  Jarid—2 pt, 1 reb;  Garrett—6 pt, 5 reb, 1 assist;  Rex—5 pt, 1 steal;  Brady—12 pts, 10 reb,1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block;  Wyatt—3 reb.  29/57 for 51%  FG    2/10  for 20%  FT           Reb adv—us 37-18 Coach Olson’s comments:  I thought our defensive intensity was good,  however  we failed to capitalize offensively as we had 8 turnovers in the 1st qt.  Our bench had another outstanding effort with great energy and hustle plays to jumpstart us.  We are looking forward to a great challenge in JVC Thursday night.
The JV boys won their contest to go to 9-1 on the year.
Varsity Ladies beat Kimball/White Lake 69-33 – Leaders were Myah Selland 23 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 8 steals; Morgan Selland  16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists; Tayla Weber  8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals; Kayla Olson  6 points, 3 assists and 5 steals; and Savannah Swenson  6 points.  The JV defeated Kimball/White Lake 26-22.  Leaders: Megan Kleppin 8 points and 3 steals; Tessa Jensen 7 points; and Abby Vermeulen 6 points.
Blackhawks Fans:  Saturday has been declared “Blackout Day” for the Boys game in Wolsey vs. Wessington Springs and for the Girls game at the Corn Palace vs. Warner! Come dressed in black and cheer on the Blackhawks!!
6th and 7th Grade Students please turn in your 6 Decisions book to Ms. Wenzel ASAP!
Ms. Senska is gone on Thursday, January 15th – no vocal.  Hs students will report – seniors will have privileges that block.
We have extra help day on Monday, January 19th.  Lists of all missing assignments will need to be in the office no later than Thursday, January 15th at noon.  Parents will be called Friday, January 16th at 1:00 if you need to report for the extra help day.
HS Students – Friday – January 16th – last day to switch classes
Basketball pictures should be in Thursday or Friday.
The BBB team will be selling Blackhawk Caps!  They have 3 styles – Black/White, White, and Black available in two fitted sizes Sm/Med and Lg/XL.  The cost is $25.00 and the number is limited. Please contact Mary or Mr. Weber if you are interested in one.  They will be available for purchase Thursday at the game – only a dozen left so if you are interested, please get in touch!
Wanted:  Snacks for bus ride to practices.  The boys basketball players are extremely hungry after school and a little extra energy is helpful.  If anyone would like to donate some snacks (jerky, cookies, granola bars, etc) would be greatly appreciated.  Donations can be dropped off/sent to SC to be used for bus rides to Woonsocket and Woonsocket will do the same.  We have 15 boys from SC.  Thanks for your support!

SAVE THE DATE: The Sanborn Central Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Tanna Kingsbury “Believe” Scholarship fundraising night on Jan.27 when the Boys’ Blackhawks play the Hanson Beavers in Forestburg. Events for the evening will include a sandwich supper meal, grab bag auction, and silent auction.  Anyone interested in donating items to the silent auction should contact a Foundation Board member.  All monies raised will go towards matching the $50,000 challenge put forth by the Boyd & Dody Hopkins family. Board members include:  Steph Edwards, Tambi Wormstadt, Jo Oberg, Troy Olson, Steve Larson, Linda Whitney, and Candi Danek.  Watch for more details.

Parents:  I am beginning my search for parents interested in chaperoning the FFA State Convention this year.  The State Convention will be April 12-14.  We will leave around noon on Sunday the 12th and return around 3 pm on Tuesday the 14th.  If you are interested in chaperoning or have any questions, please email me at shane.gross@k12.sd.us.  Even if we have already visited about chaperoning, I would appreciate another email to confirm.
