December 3, 2014

Wednesday – December 3, 2014
Orange Day
Happy Birthday Jonny Forschler!
Notice all the red worn today? That’s because December is the month of caring at Sanborn Central!
We will be doing eligibility, MS Updates, and Homework Club on Thursday.  Get your assignments in – if you need help with your parent portal – contact Mary!  Extra Help Day (December 12th) is just around the corner and you really don’t want to spend it at school - do you?
Teachers, please keep your grade books up to-date with the extra help day coming up.
A Mt. Marty rep will be here at 11:30 today.
Girls practice at Sanborn Central and Boys at Woonsocket today.

There has been one slight change to the winterguard practices. Students didn't want a whole hour between basketball practice and winterguard rehearsal. Because of this, night practices will be starting at 6:30pm and going to 8:30pm. A revised Winterguard schedule ending on March 28th has been uploaded to our Google Drive
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqebWxoSnlDcWJxVXc/view?usp=sharing

There will be a parent meeting for Winterguard Thursday Dec. 4th during practice at 7:45pm. I will do my best to answer as many questions as possible. This is also a new experience for me so there might have been things I haven’t thought of.

The FFA Fruit has arrived!!!  Butter Braids and popcorn will be here Thursday, December 4th.  Many of the students are waiting to deliver once everything arrives.

HS basketball players – did you remember to give your parents the note regarding the concession stand Saturday during the jamboree?  Bring your items to practice on Friday or before the games on Saturday!!!

9-12 Girls and Boys Basketball Parents:  A note was sent home with your athlete on Monday regarding your help needed with the concession stand for Saturday’s jamboree.  9th graders are being asked to donate 3 packages of hot dog buns.  10-12 graders are being asked to donate a pan of bars and 1 package of hamburger buns.  We will also need some help running the stand throughout the day.  Important details can be found in the complete letter - Forms & Publications - Google Drive - Athletics - Basketball
Don’t forget that information for all of Saturday’s games can be found on our Google Drive – Forms & Publications – Athletics – Basketball.
Monday, December 8th at 2:30 (gym) students in grades PreK-5th will enjoy a “Caring” play performed by the MS Student Council.
With the extra help day scheduled for Friday, December 12th, lists of missing work need to be turned into Mrs. Whitney and Mrs. Vermeulen no later than noon on Wednesday, December 10th.  Students will be given lists of missing assignments at that time. Parents will be notified at 1:00 on Thursday(if anything is still missing) that you will need to be here from 8:00am until 11:00am on Friday, December 12th.

The Junior Class will have 3 main Prom fundraisers taking place during basketball season.  Contact Tracy Moody for more information:
      1. Auction of the 2 front row parking spots.  Bids should be sent to Tracy Moody at tracy.moody@k12.sd.us.  The 2 highest bids at 3:00 THIS FRIDAY will have front row parking for all home games starting with the jamboree this weekend!
      2.  We will be doing the basketball board again for all home varsity games.  You can buy a spot on the board for $20.  Scores will be checked at half-time of each home varsity girls and boys game. $30 will be given to the winner each time.  We have 7 home games and you need not be present to win.  The first 25 people to contact Tracy Moody at tracy.moody@k12.sd.us will have spots on the board!!  The board is uploaded to our Google Drive.
       3.  A new idea this year, we will have The Super Sofa!!  You can purchase a ticket to sit on the sofa with up to 3 friends for a single home game.  2 names will be drawn for double headers.  Each ticket is $5, you may purchase as many as you would like.  This should be great fun for elementary through adults!  Your ticket will stay in the bucket the entire year unless it is drawn!!  Contact any junior, Tracy Moody tracy.moody@k12.sd.us  or Mary Ackman at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us  to purchase a ticket.
