Friday, October 10th is our first extra help day.  MS & HS teachers will turn in lists of missing assignments on Wednesday, October 8th at noon.  Students will be notified of all missing assignments.  Thursday, October 9th we will begin calling the parents of students who have not completed all missing assignments at 1:00 pm.  Friday, October 10th students will need to be present from 8:00 am until 11:00 am or all assignments are turned in.

Orange Day – Home work Club meets

Coronation is set for 7:00 pm tonight at Sanborn Central.  We wish the best to our candidates - Leah Baysinger, Jarid Bechen, Allysha Duffel, Garrett Mann, Morgan Selland, Shane Nelson, Amberiah Smith, and Cole Wormstadt.  We hope you have a fun filled evening.

Good Luck to the JH & JV Football teams as they host Platte/Geddes at 4:00 today in Springs.  Players leaving today are Josh F., Logan F., Garrett D., Trent K. Eric R., Alex W., Jonny F, Sawyer S., Cayden S., and Tater M.  They will need to be dismissed at 2:15 as the bus will leave at 2:30.

Local Oral Interp try outs are today.

All State Chorus try outs are today.

HS FB will practice in Springs today.

5/6th BB practice begins today with practice from 3:45-5:00 at Sanborn Central.  On the days that practice is in Woonsocket, SC students can be bussed there and will be back to SC between 5:20 and 5:30. Blue Day
Happy Birthday Myah Selland and Kara Wormstadt!  Tomorrow Morgan Selland and Matthew Johnson will celebrate birthdays!

It’s a great day to be a Blackhawk!!!!  #3 ranked Blackhawks take on Platte/Geddes in Springs tonight.  It’s homecoming for Wessington Springs and the festivities include a tail gate party starting at 5:30 serving  a Pork Sandwich – Chips – Cookies – Pop for $5.00.  KOOL 98.3 will be broadcasting the game.

Blackhawk Athletics will be hosting “Be Bold, Wear Gold” nights during the month of September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!   Come cheer on the Blackhawks and wear GOLD at the Football Game September 26th to promote awareness!  Gold paper “chain links” will be sold and connected at both games. The band is marching in the Menno Parade today.  No Band or lessons today.

7-12 Volleyball practice will be in Woonsocket today.

It’s off to the races for Bailey Moody this weekend, who has been invited to participate in the Ak-Sar-Ben High School Scholarship Rodeo Saturday in Omaha in the Pole Bending event.  High School Rodeo Champions from the Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, and South Dakota will compete for a $1,000 scholarship per event at this 2nd annual event!

Good luck to the soccer team.  They host Freeman at Mitchell today at 5:00.

Good Luck to the Volleyball teams as they host Iroquois in Woonsocket tonight.  The JH games start at 5:15 followed by JV & V.  If you can’t attend, tune in to Santel Channel 104 to cheer on the Blackhawks!

HS & JH FB at Springs today.

The 5th band presentation is tonight in Woonsocket from 5:00-6:30.  If you already own an instrument and it's not new, please bring it to the instrumental display. Mr. Kroeger is a band director not a repairman so he is not always 100% sure on what needs to be fixed. Students will also need to purchase book 1 of Tradition of Excellence which will be for sale at the display. If you are a clarinet or saxophone player, you will also be able to purchase reeds.

The HS Student Council has set our Homecoming Days for next week:
                              Monday: Disney Day (Dress as a character from your favorite Disney movie)
                             Tuesday: Unconventional Clothing Day (Anything but normal clothes day.  Ex. Duct Tape T-Shirt, or a shirt made out of a Burlap sack, be creative)
                             Wednesday: Famous Pair Day (Find a friend and make a famous duo)
                             Thursday: Throwback Thursday
                             Friday: School Spirit Day 

5th grade band instrumental display, is scheduled for Thursday, September 25th at Woonsocket 5pm-6:30pm.  - If you already own an instrument and it's not new, please bring it to the instrumental display. Mr. Kroeger is a band director not a repairman so he is not always 100% sure on what needs to be fixed. Students will also need to purchase book 1 of Tradition of Excellence which will be for sale at the display. If you are a clarinet or saxophone player, you will also be able to purchase reeds.

Friday’s game vs. Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian will be broadcast on KOOL 98.3

Blackhawk Athletics will be hosting “Be Bold, Wear Gold” nights during the month of September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!   Come cheer on the Blackhawks and wear GOLD at the Football Game September 26th to promote awareness!  Gold paper “chain links” will be sold and connected at both games. Monday – September 29th 5/6th Boys and Girls Basketball practice begins.  The first practice will be held at Sanborn Central.  On the days that practice is in Woonsocket, SC students can be bussed there and will be back to SC between 5:20 and 5:30. The JV football team left Mt. Vernon with a couple of victories yesterday.  The Older team won 14-0 and the younger team won 20-6.  Unfortunately the JH team didn’t fare so well and suffered a loss.

The VB team travels to Wolsey/Wessington today for games starting at 5:15 today – JH-JV-V.  The team also has pictures today and will need to be dismissed at 2:30 to go to Woonsocket. 

The soccer team travels to Groton for games today.

Congratulations to our HS Student Council Members - Freshman Trent and Weston; Sophomores Trevor and Garrett; Juniors Logan and Bailey; Seniors Jarid Bechen (President), Amberiah Smith (Vice President), and Morgan Selland (Secretary  & Treasurer)

The HS Student Council has set our Homecoming Days for next week:

Good luck to Bailey Moody who has been invited to participate in the Ak-Sar-Ben High School Scholarship Rodeo this coming Saturday in Omaha in the Pole Bending event.  High School Rodeo Champions from the Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, and South Dakota will compete for a $1,000 scholarship per event at this 2nd annual event!

We wish the football team lots of TD’s at SBA tomorrow.  Kick off is scheduled for 2:30.

We wish the soccer team luck with their game at JVC tomorrow - 6:00 start.

Marching Band Rough Schedule for Saturday September 20th
At the current moment, I still have not received all the details for Saturday’s parade. This is the plan as of now.
               6:45am- Woonsocket load bus
               7am- Leave Woonsocket/Load bus at Sanborn Central
               7:15am- Depart from Sanborn Central
               8:15am- Arrive at Madison High School
              10:00am- Parade Starts
              Noon? Get food
             12:30pm?- Leave Madison
             1:30/ 2pm? Arrive home
Things needed for Saturday: Black socks, white band shirt, money for food, instrument

The volleyball match with Wessington Springs has been moved to Oct. 11 with only a JV and Varsity match beginning at 6:30 in Woonsocket.

The junior high volleyball team will compete in the Wessington Springs junior high tournament on Oct. 25th with times to be determined.

No updates, eligibility, or homework club were done at Sanborn Central this week.  Thank you for understanding.

Parent Teacher Conferences for Thursday, September 18th have been cancelled. Parents feel free to e-mail, call, or set up an appointment with staff members.  Bonus points will be given to those who have contacted a teacher in Middle School or High School.
