Once again we are very proud at Sanborn Central as last night Bailey Moody was named the KSFY "Athlete of the Week" for her performance in the State High School Rodeo last weekend in Belle Fourche.   Way to go, Bailey!  Good luck at Nationals!

Wanted:  Substitute school bus drivers.  We need drivers to substitute occasionally for route drivers in the morning and/or afternoon.  Hours are approximately 6:15 - 8:00 in the morning and about 3:00 - 4:30 in the afternoon depending on the route and passengers riding. Currently the pay is $25 per route or $50 for the day (both morning and afternoon routes).  The district will pay for expenses incurred to get your CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements that includes a physical.  Contact Supt. Letcher’s Bailey Moody, daughter of Perry and Tracy Moody, qualified for the National High School Rodeo finals to be held in Rock Springs, WY  July  13-19.  Bailey brought home a saddle in the event following in older sister Logan’s footsteps.  Bailey’s final score was 67 with the second place tallying 63 points.  You can follow Bailey’s progress at http://www.nhsra.com/2014-NHSFR-Info-and-Results

The National Junior High Rodeo Finals are being held in Des Moines, Iowa this week.  Cayden Slykhuis, son of Tera Moody and Clark Slykhuis, with team roping partner Tater Moody, son of Robin and Toby Moody, will be having their first run tonight and their second go on Thursday morning.  You can follow them at http://www.nhsra.com/2014-NJHFR-Info-and-Results .

The Artesian Street Dance will take place June 21st at 9:30 pm with Dustin Evans and Goodtimes Band performing.  Admission will be $10 with no glass bottles allowed.  The Artesian All School Reunion will be held in conjunction with the street dance on June 21st this year  There will be a banquet with social time from 5-6:30 and a meal at 6:30.  For more information and to reserve your ticket please call Ashley Schwader (605)772-4526 or Bobbi Fridley (605)527-2640.

Go Team TanDog!!!!!  Have you made your plans to attend the 17th annual Mitchell Heart and Sole Cancer Walk, on June 20th at the Mitchell Middle School?  Sanborn Central has campsite B8 right next to Honorary Co-Chair Tanna Kingsbury and the Sanborn County Courthouse.  The theme this year is “Rockin-n-Rollin in hope of a cure”!  Sanborn Central does have a banner which proudly proclaims that “Sanborn Central has Heart and Sole”.  If anyone would be willing to set up the campsite or has ideas for decorating the camp site, especially how to properly display our banner, please contact Mary Ackman at ackmanmb@santel.net or 605-248-2446. Camp sites are judged by the co-chairs and awards are given. The walk begins at 6:30 PM while the 5k/10k/1.7 Mile Fun Run will begin right after the opening ceremonies! This long standing summer tradition brings together thousands of committed, caring individuals and organizations who show their community spirit by walking, running, donating, selling luminaries and volunteering!
*Pork loin sandwiches, hotdogs, chips, pop, water, cupcakes, snow cones, and Culver's will be served.
* The live entertainment will be two local talents, Joe Morgan, and Clayton Mick. Each will play for part of the evening. Big J will be the MC for the night.
*Raffle items
*Kids activities will include train rides, tattoos, car simulator, 3 different inflatables.  Tickets are $.25 each or they can pay $5 for a stamp for the whole night.
*Shirts are available now at SunGold, and limited sizes will be available the night of the walk.
*We are still looking for volunteers to help put sand in the luminary bags the morning of the event. We will start at 10 and should be done by noon. If they would like to volunteer, they can call Tami Morgan at 999-0255 or send a personal message on Facebook.
*Luminaries can be bought for $5 until the day before the walk, and will be $10 the night of the walk. All the banks in Mitchell have blank luminary forms or they can be printed off of our website at  http://www.mitchellheartandsole.com/ and can be turned into either CorTrust Bank.
*Vern Eide will be there with cars to test drive. For every car that is tested during the Cancer Walk, Vern Eide will donate $20 to Heart & Sole. Drivers License will be needed to test drive any of the vehicles.
As a team effort to raise awareness and promote our commitment to overcome this disease, we invite you to gather your family, friends, coworkers, and students to participate in this event. The revenue from this walk is used to aid people in the Mitchell and surrounding areas in their fight against cancer. The purpose of the Heart and Sole Cancer Walk/Run is to raise money to help those with cancer.  The monies raised by the Heart and Sole Cancer Walk/Run stays local. This money is distributed through the Heart & Sole Cancer Assistance.  Checks in excess of $475,000 have been sent to patients since we started in 1998.

Congratulations to the state track participants on a fine track season. It’s Bountiful Basket ordering week!  You have from 10:00 am this morning until 10:00 pm tomorrow evening to place your order!  The volunteer time for Letcher is 12:45 with pick up time at 1:45.  http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/

The Artesian Street Dance will take place June 21st at 9:30 pm with Dustin Evans and Goodtimes Band performing.  Admission will be $10 with no glass bottles allowed.The Artesian All School Reunion will be held in conjunction with the street dance on June 21st this year  There will be a banquet with social time from 5-6:30 and a meal at 6:30.For more information and to reserve your ticket please call Ashley Schwader (605)772-4526 or Bobbi Fridley 605)527-2640.  Also if anyone/group is interested in serving hamburgers/hotdogs during the street dance please contact Brenda Schmit - bschmit@santel.net before June 7th.
