Congratulations to Bailey and Madi Moody for their rodeo accomplishments!  Madi Moody has been chosen to represent South Dakota on the National Cinch Team for 2014.  She will be the representative for the South Dakota Junior High team in the event of barrel racing.  One team member is selected from each rodeo event in each state. Madi will receive clothing from Cinch and is also eligible to compete for scholarships. Madi will be competing as a 7th grader in SDJHSRA rodeos beginning in May.  Bailey Moody has been invited to participate in the 20X Extreme Showcase Rodeo in the Pole Bending Event - February 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm during the Rapid City Stock Show.  The Extreme Showcase features the top 3 competitors from all 4 regions in the state of South Dakota.   They compete for scholarships, prizes, and the title!  We are Rebel Proud Ladies!

This week is School Board Recognition Week.  Our children benefit every day from the leadership of our local school board.  Today we will feature Rick Miller.  Rick graduated from Sioux Falls Washington and attended Lake Area Tech.  He currently is employed with Coca-Cola in the service department.  Rick was asked to fill a vacant position and has remained on the Sanborn Central School Board for 13 years.  Rick believes his greatest accomplishment while serving on the board was the building of the new school and seeing how communities pull together.  Rick hopes to keep a strong learning environment going during some trying times.  Rick, we thank you for making the commitment to serve Sanborn Central students, staff, and patrons!

Due to the upcoming extra help day on Monday, January 20th, Mrs. Vermeulen and Mrs. Whitney will need lists of all missing assignments by noon on Wednesday, January 15th.  Parents will be notified at 1:00 on Friday, January 17th.  Students with missing work will report from 8:00-11:00 am Monday, January 20th.

MS Updates will need to be done by noon on Wednesday, January 15th.  We will not do eligibility that week.

Huron Arena
281 Conference Pink Night
Let’s get the entire arena covered in pink!

From South Dakota Voices for Children:  I write as we at SDVC are putting together our upcoming Children’s Day at the Capitol on February 4. One of the aspects of Children’s Day is to have some display items emphasizing children. We are developing banners featuring children from across SD to emphasize the diversity found in our children and that all communities must address the needs of children. I write to ask if any of your families are headed toward Sioux Falls in the days ahead and would be willing to have their son or daughter (ages birth to 18) be photographed to be used in the banner. The banner would read something like “Greg B, age 14, Artesian”.  If you know of someone who might be interested to contact me directly. Thanks for your help. Look forward to seeing you in 2014.
