Wednesday – October 9, 2013
Blue Day

Eligibility, Homework, Updates due at noon tomorrow!

Congratulations Lady Blackhawks on your victories over SBA last night.

Football is in Springs today and Volleyball at Sanborn Central.

Ms. Senska will be gone Thursday to All State Chorus rehearsal – no vocal!  The bus will leave SC at 6:40 am!

There will be no 5/6th basketball practice Thursday, October 10th due to gym conflicts.

Update on Blackhawk Football this coming week:
•         Thursday, October 10 – JH and HS Practice at Wessington Springs
•         Friday, October 11 – HS Game vs. Highmore-Harrold at Wessington Springs at 7:00 pm

These are the hours that the following teachers will be available for conferences:
    Corey Flatten     1:00 - 3:00
    Tim McCain        1:00 - 3:30
Tracy Moody       1:00 - 3:30 but will be in the concession stand area until 6:00
    Rick Olsen        1:00 - 3:00
    Brett Kroeger     3:30 - 5:00
    Chelsea Wenzel    3:30 - 5:00
If parents cannot be here during those times, MS and HS students can still receive bonus points if they contact the teacher either by e-mail, phone, or set up another conferencing time by Wednesday, October 23. That goes for any parent that cannot attend conferences.

Flu immunization forms are available in the office or on our web site.  The shot will be given free of charge to all students on October 23rd from 7:30 am until 10:30 am.  We are asking that all forms be returned by October 16th.  It goes very smoothly if Marla can pre-draw the shots with the count given.  It is highly recommended that parents attend the clinic with children 11 years of age and younger.  This will also ensure that your child is immunized.

A flu shot clinic will be held at the Artesian Community Center today from 11:30 to 12:30.  A fee of $20 will be charged if not Medicare Part B Eligibile. You must present your medicare card. A flyer showing flu shot clinics around the county has been uploaded to the community folder on our website.

Keep in mind that Jack Links is sponsoring a tailgate party Friday, October 11th at the football game in Springs.  All proceeds will go to Spartan athletics.

MS Students interested in volunteering to paint fingernails or apply tattoos at the Kingsbury Pep Rally on Saturday, October 12th should see Mrs. Vermeulen.

Blackhawk Cheer Camp – Grades Kindergarten thru 4th – October 22nd & October 24th – Cost is $20 which includes shirt, ribbons, and a meal.  Information has been sent home with students or contact Chelsea.wenzel@k12.sd.us

Here is a link to information about the upcoming Pep Rally and Benefit for Tanna Kingsbury on Saturday, October 12 at Sanborn Central from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.  The link also shows the current auction donations and is updated on a daily basis. This event is in support of Tanna’s upcoming radiation treatments for cancer that will begin later in October at Mayo Clinic. Thanks to everyone for their support.

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.
