                                                                 Blue Day

Cody Ruml and Dustin Johnson were selected to receive their own FFA jacket and tie through the SD FFA Foundation Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program.  They were among the 158 selected from 218 applicants to receive their own jacket and tie paid for by donors across the state.  To its owner, the FFA jacket is a physical reminder of the personal accomplishments achieved through the organization - a symbol of commitment and dedication for all who wear the corduroy. Congrats Cody and Dustin!

Sanborn Central FFA members are currently selling Crystalyx discount cards through the Earn to Learn program.  Each card saves the producer $40 on 1 ton of Crystalyx Brand Supplements.  In return, the producer pays the FFA member $20 for each card.  This money stays with our local FFA chapter to support our agricultural education program and chapter activities.  To purchase a card, speak with any Sanborn Central FFA member.  We will also be selling the cards at the Forestburg Farmers Elevator producer supper.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at shane.gross@k12.sd.us. Thank you for your support and good luck with harvest!

Mitchell Technical Institute will be hosting My Technical Interest Days again this year. Registration forms and additional information about the events can be found at http://www.mitchelltech.edu/admissions/techprep/mytidays/    and from Mrs. Whitney or Mary.

The following are the dates for the camps:
               •       October 23, 2013 – Ag and Power Sports
               •       October 30, 2013 – Construction
               •       November 20, 2013 – Energy

You will notice that there is not a grade level of attendance for MyTI Days. I would say that camp is geared more toward that sophomore or junior student that is in the midst of career exploration, but I wouldn't discourage a senior who is trying to figure out what to do next year or a freshman with a great deal of interest in that area to apply either. Registration is limited, so I would encourage your students to apply early.

Saturday October 5th a fund raiser will be held at the Artesian Community Center for David Grassel.  Dave was diagnosed with parasteal osteosarcoma in his right knee in December 2012. If you are planning on playing in the Grassel bean bag tournament please register your team as soon as possible. We would like to start getting this organized to figure out a bracket. Teams can still register on Saturday but please do it before 1:00 PM.   Call David Unterbrunner at 354-0030 to register your team!

There's going to be a bridal shower for Kaitlyn Donahue, Jordan Pearson’s fiancé, on Sunday (10/6) at the Artesian Community Center at 2pm.
