Mary Ackman has provided the following information about this year’s Heart & Sole Cancer Walk:
Please join us for the 16th Annual Heart & Sole Cancer Walk on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Mitchell Middle School, 800 W. 10th - the walk will begin @ 6:30 p.m. and there will be a run beginning @ 7:00 pm! This long standing summer tradition brings together thousands of committed, caring individuals and organizations who show their community spirit by walking, running, donating, selling luminaries and volunteering!
This years’ co-chairs both have ties to Rebel Country – Kathy Zoss and Al Ridgway.
Sanborn Central has a campsite, C-8, right between Kathy Zoss and the Sanborn County Court House. We ask that you bring your lawn chairs and join us in an evening of fun.  The Heart and Sole will be selling food and refreshments.  Here is the link to the map:  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxqWDgwTHOqebDZEcUFkSzhyZVU/edit?usp=sharing
If you would like, make a sign to stick in the ground at our campsite in honor or memory of someone who has fought the battle with cancer.
As a team effort to raise awareness and promote our commitment to overcome this disease, we invite you to gather your family, friends, coworkers, and students to participate in this event. The revenue from this walk is used to aid people in the Mitchell and surrounding areas in their fight against cancer.
The Nearly Wild Band, one of the area's newest country swing dance bands, will be playing at our Cancer Walk on June 21st.  See more information here at http://www.mitchellheartandsole.com/default.htm

There will be a Farmer’s Market in Letcher on Saturday, June 22 in Rossy Park from 9:00 – noon.

June 22 is the Artesian 2nd Annual Fun Day and the Community Improvement Association Street Dance.  Events begin at 10:00 and include a bake sale, silent auction, lunch, free swimming, city wide rummage sale, games, a dog wash, and a bean bag tournament.  All events are at the swimming pool area.  The street dance will feature “Dustin Evans and the Good Times Band” beginning at 9:30pm on Artesian’s Main Street.  Cost is $10 per person and no glass containers will be allowed.
