SANBORN CENTRAL E-NEWS
 
Coborn’s receipts for November, December and January are due at the school or at CorTrust Bank in Letcher or Artesian by Tuesday.

The Juniors have purchased 20 dozen bouquets of roses to be sold for $20/dozen. They come with fern and baby breath, and they have vases available if you would like them to arrange them, or they can be taken in their plastic sleeve. They will be sold on a first ordered basis. Please contact Tracy Moody at tracy.moody@k12.sd.us if you would like to place an order.
 
The School Spirit Club will be doing their annual candy grams for $1. A candy bar with a short note will be delivered to anyone at school on Valentine’s Day. They would appreciate having all orders by the end of the day on Wednesday so they can have them organized. They can be ordered at school or by contacting Tracy Moody at tracy.moody@k12.sd.us.
 
Congratulations to the High School Student of the Month nominees for January: Science – Jarid Bechen, Social Science – Todd Stekl, PE – Tyler Johnson, AgEd – Jarid Bechen, English – Candace Page-Marten, Math – Bailey Moody, Computers – Nick Miller, Band – Jessica Schmit, and Vocal Music – April Farmer. Star Student of the Month was Candace Page- Marten.

TODAY - FRIDAY:
 
Basketball practice: 7th Girls at Sanborn Central
 
6th Grade will have Guidance today.
 
Mr. Kroeger will be gone today. There will be no band or lessons. The Pep Band will not be playing tonight.
 
The Blackhawks have double-header basketball games against Highmore-Harrold in Woonsocket today. The boys will be playing first. Games start at 4:00 p.m. in the following order: JV Boys, JV Girls, Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls.
 
The Woonsocket Junior Class will be serving BBQ pulled pork sandwiches during the games today starting at 4:00 p.m. Sandwich, chips, pop/water and bar will be $5.00, or a sandwich only for $3.00.

SUNDAY:
 
The District Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest will be held in DeSmet on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
 
If the contest is postponed because of weather on Sunday, Troy and Amy Olson will try to let everyone know as soon as possible, or you can contact them at 605-999-1058 or olsona@santel.net.

The Lady Blackhawks have basketball games at James Valley Christian School in Huron on Monday. The JH girls will play at 5:15 p.m., JV girls at 6:30 p.m. and Varsity girls around 8:00 p.m.

Basketball games that appear on the school calendar against Mitchell Christian for Thursday were moved to Friday, February 15 in a double-header matchup.

FRIDAY (February 15):
 
No school next Friday. It will be an Extra Help Day.
 
Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place next Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parents who are unable to attend conferences may contact their student’s teachers via phone or e-mail. Students in grades 6-12 will be given bonus points in the classes that their parents confer. The deadline for bonus points will be February 22.
 
There will be a Scholastic Book Fair going on at the school during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Profits in the form of books will be donated to the Sanborn Central Library.
 
There will be double-header basketball games at Mitchell Christian on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. in the following order: Girls C, Boys JV, Girls Varsity, Boys Varsity.

REMINDERS:
 
The SCW Blackhawks caps have arrived and will be available at home basketball games or by contacting Troy Olson.  Cost is $15.
 
The Way Station in Woonsocket will deliver valentine specials to students for free on Valentine’s Day if ordered before February 14. The basic special is a 9” air-filled valentine balloon attached to a box of assorted candy with a bow for $7.50. Add a 10” bear for $8.25 or a 15” bear for $13.50. They also have candy bouquets, mylar balloons and fresh flowers. Give them a call at 605-796-4348 to customize your order. Delivery is also available to all surrounding areas, or you can pick up your order yourself at the Way Station.
 
Logan Moody’s February Caring Project is to send valentines to the Veteran’s Hospital and local nursing homes. Elementary students will be making valentines. If you would care to donate for postage or make some valentines, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us.
