Congratulations to Logan Moody. She received a $500 scholarship yesterday at the High School Rodeo competition at the Black Hills Stock Show.
 
The JV boys played in a basketball jamboree on Saturday at Mt. Vernon. They lost to Corsica-Stickney, 19-24. Scoring: Joe Davis – 5, Brady Tiede – 4, Garrett Larson – 2, Dillon Moore – 2, Cole Wormstadt – 2, Austin Ball – 2, Jastyn Ford – 2. They lost to Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, 28-43. Scoring: Josh Feiner – 9, Brady Tiede – 6, Dillon Moore – 5, Joe Davis – 4, Rex Schlicht – 2, Brayden Peterson – 2. They beat Ethan, 44-39. Scoring: Dillon Moore – 11, Josh Feiner – 11, Joe Davis – 8, Brady Tiede – 6, Garret Larson – 4, Cole Wormstadt – 4. They beat Wagner, 51-45. Scoring: Brady Tiede – 10, Dillon Moore – 9, Joe Davis – 8, Garrett Larson – 6, Rex Schlicht – 6, Josh Feiner – 5, Austin Ball – 5, Cole Wormstadt – 2.
 
The JH girls played in a CBH basketball tournament at Plankinton on Saturday and finished in 2nd place. In the first game they beat Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, 20-17. Leading scorers were Maddie Vermeulen with 8 points and Tanna Kingsbury with 5 points. In the second game they beat Mitchell Christian, 28-15. Leading scorers were Maddie with 10 points and Tanna with 7 points. In the championship game they lost to Ethan, 18-41. Leading scorer was Tanna with 8 points.
 
The Blackhawk boys played Wessington Springs at Woonsocket on Friday night.
 
The JH boys won, 70-31. Quarter scores were SCW 15, 30, 48, 70 and WS 4, 11, 20, 31. Leading the way for the Blackhawks were: Wyatt Feistner - 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal; Trent Kingsbury - 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7assists, 7 steals; Logun Feistner - 11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals; Trevor Olson - 6 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals; Trey Weber - 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal; Garrett Dean - 4 points, 2 assists, 3 steals; Nathan Linke - 4 points; Jared Goldammer - 4 points, 2 assists; Koby Larson - 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals; Devon Weber - 2 points, 1 rebound; Shaun Snedeker - 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. The Blackhawks out rebounded WS 31- 17, and turnovers were Blackhawks 12 and WS 24.
 
The JV boys won, 66-35. Leading scorers were Joe Davis – 17, Dillon Moore – 12, Garrett Larson – 8, and Jastyn Ford – 8.
 
The Varsity boys won, 86-36. Scoring: Josh Feiner – 2, Jaedyn Ford – 2, Davion Brooks – 9, Cole Wormstadt – 2, Todd Stekl – 11, Tyler Krueger – 13, Tucker Kingsbury – 2, Drew HInker – 6, Nick Miller – 17, Jarid Bechen – 2, Dillon Moore – 2, Garrett Larson – 7, Brady Tiede – 11.
 
Here are a few more stats from the Varsity girls’ game last Thursday night against Wessington Springs when the Lady Blackhawks won, 79-55. Rachelle Moore – 25 points, 4 steals, 4 assists; Shelby Selland – 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists; Marissa Weber – 9 points, 3 assists, 4 steals; Myah Selland – 7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals; Candace Page –Marten – 6 points, 3 assists, 3 steals; Morgan Selland – 5 points, 5 assists; Rachel Selland – 5 points.

TODAY - MONDAY:
 
The girls and boys have basketball games against Ethan at Sanborn Central today.

Booster Club concession stand workers for tonight are Dennis and Donna Morgan, Clayton and Lanette Dean, and Brett and Kelly Selland.
 
The Booster Club will be selling Caramel Apple Slices with toppings during the games.
 
The Pep Band will be performing tonight. Band members should be ready to play by 5:30 p.m.
 
Both of tonight’s varsity games will be broadcast on Q107.3 Radio.

Eligibility and Homework Club will be calculated on Thursday.
 
There are double-header basketball games against Corsica/Stickney at Corsica on Thursday. Since they have two gyms, both the JV girls and JV boys will play at 5:00 p.m. The Varsity girls will then play in the main gym, followed by the Varsity boys.
 
The charter bus will pick up players at Sanborn Central at 3:20 p.m. and Woonsocket at 3:35 p.m.
 
The Corsica Track Committee is raising money to get rubber placed on their track. They will be serving a soup and sandwich supper on Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m. Cost is a free will donation. There will also be a silent auction of various items.

FRIDAY:
 
Basketball practice: Girls at Sanborn Central, Boys at Woonsocket
 
The JH girls and boys will be playing basketball against Corsica/Stickney at Woonsocket on Friday night. The girls will play at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys.
 
The JV girls and boys will be playing basketball at Mt. Vernon on Friday night. The girls will play at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys.

SATURDAY:
 
The JH boys will be playing in a CBH Basketball Tournament in Plankinton on Saturday morning. No schedule has been made available yet.
 
The JH girls will be playing in a CBH Basketball Tournament in Kimball on Saturday. The tournament starts at 9:00 a.m. SCW will be playing TDA at 10:00 a.m. for their first game.
 
 
There are double-header basketball games against Wolsey-Wessington at Sanborn Central on Saturday. Game times are 2:00 - JV Girls, 3:00 - JV Boys, 4:30 - Varsity Girls, 6:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys.
 
It will be Parent’s Night on Saturday. The girls and their parents will be introduced prior to the Varsity girls’ game, and the boys and their parents will be introduced prior to the Varsity boys’ game.

REMINDERS:
 
Logan Moody’s February Caring Project is to send valentines to the Veteran’s Hospital and local nursing homes. Elementary students will be making valentines. If you would care to donate for postage or make some valentines, please contact Mary at mary.ackman@k12.sd.us.
 
WANTED: Sanborn Central is in need of someone to organize and supervise the spring soccer league for our students. The league is Woonsocket, Wessington Springs, and Sanborn Central. It involves lining up coaches for each age group and coaching/supervising all the practices and games. Please contact Mrs. Whitney ASAP at 605-495-4183 or linda.whitney@k12.sd.us if you might be interested.  The pay is $800 for the season.
