From Mrs. Whitney: Here is a reference sheet put out by the CANS (Child & Adult Nutrition Services) office in Pierre (Reference Sheet: www.sanborncentral.com/docs/2012SchoolLunch.pdf. I was also informed by one of our patrons that to voice your concerns there is an e-mail set up that goes to the "powers that be" in Washington, DC.  That e-mail address is healthierschoolday@fns.usda.gov.  I was on a conference call led by Senator Russell Olson on Friday with Kristi Noem participating.  She is very aware of the concerns out there about the new meal plan.  If we want to make Washington aware of the issues we have with the new requirements, please e-mail the address given above and let them know your concerns.  We are all about healthy school lunches and agree with some of the new requirements but it needs to be changes made to take into account individual student needs.  This is a national issue as I'm hearing that the same concerns are being voiced around the country. Let your voice be heard. E-mail healthierschoolday@fns.usda.gov today! Thanks for your help!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.
